Discovery Park

There's a new-ish new park in the Valley called Discovery Park that we visited for the first time a few weeks ago. We had a blast.....until it was time to leave, but we won't get into that part of the outing. Cool rock climbing walls, dinosaur eggs you can climb into, trampolines in the ground, and so many other cool things to explore. It's a also got some water features that turn part of the park into a splash pad when it gets hot this summer. We will go back.

love this one....Luke always wants to be doing what big sis is doing and this shows it

family jam

....nice fishy

Luke's not the most adventurous kid, but he's conquered his fear of the slide! Go little man!

It's warming up around here

It has been a gorgeous May in Spokane - after a very grey, chilly April. We're loving it at our house and have been outside playing a lot. Picnics at the table in the backyard for lunch and grilling out for dinner too! (Grilling out - a term I learned from my hubby and his family..... a S. Dakota term?) One of the kids' favorite things in the world is popsicles. The simplest thing in the world, but makes E & L so happy! We've had a couple hot days where the sprinkler's been turned on....something Ella used to watch from a distance, but not dare go running through. Now that's Luke's thing, and Ella charges in. Bring on summer!

Mother's Day Tea

It was a special day today....a pre-Mother's Day celebration at school. Southside Christian invited Mom's to a Mother's Day tea. It was pretty great. The kids sang a couple songs they'd been working on, and then we shared a snack the kids had help make. Each of the kids had filled in the blanks on a special story about their Mom.... check out Little Miss's story about me: (click on the letter if you're having trouble seeing it)

she knows me so well! :)

The time at the school went by too fast! What a treat to get to spend some time with Ella and her friends where she loves to be! All the kids were so proud to have their Mom's at school with them.  There are 8 kids in her class - 6 girls and 2 boys. A couple of the girls are friends from church too, which makes it even more special! Happy Mother's Day all!

Play date with the Foslers

The kids and I headed to St. John last week to meet up with my friend Lynn and her kids. Lynn, Isaac and Addy were in town to visit Lynn's Mom, Rosa for a few days. It had been a really long time since we'd had the kids together and it was so great to see them! Isaac is huge now....and really, so is Addy - he's 4 1/2 and she turned 2 in March. Ella got to bring her bike so she could ride with Isaac, even though he left her in the dust. (He is since riding without training wheels, and Ella is no where near ready). Luke did his best keep up with everyone, but needed a few more helping hands than the rest as we ran up and down the road next to Rosa's. Can't wait until we can get together again.

Luke's look is priceless

Isaac - such a big kid!

Ballet Lessons

A while back I posted about Ella taking ballet lessons. We'd originally got her signed up through the city - a class that lasted only 4 weeeks. My friend, Pamela recommended a class by Miss Peggy, a teacher that their daughter has learned from for the past few years. We got Ella signed up for a 6 week stint in Miss Peggy's class, and we've all loved it! This past Tuesday was the last class, and parents were allowed to watch (and take pictures!). I got a bunch of good ones, including this priceless video of Ella skipping. It's a new skill that she is very proud of. I am very proud of it too, she's worked very hard! I feel pride and joy when watching her skip....and I also die laughing. I feel terrible, but the high knees and she's still REALLY slow. But so cute!

Love this one! Warming up at thes start of class.
