Aunt Hazel
Aunt Hazel is the closest thing to a Great Grandma that Ella and Luke have around here. My Grandma Ella's sister, she has always been such a cool lady and I definitely want my kids to know her. We visited her at her downtown apartment last week. She'd met Luke once before and he had no trouble this time around feeling at ease.....he fell asleep in her lap after about 10 minutes.
how cute is this picture? Smiles all around!

Super Cool Zac & Kristen
Zac & Kristen bought the coolest new toys recently - kayaks! We met up with them in Medical Lake on Sunday morning and got to try them out! So much fun!! Thank you very much Z & K for bringing them out and letting us try!! We had a blast! Thanks also for running and playing with Ella and watching the kids while we had our time on the lake!

And the antic dote for today is....
We had a busy day yesterday..... play date with JJ & Chrissy and then we had lunch and hung out with Grammy Sharon, Grandpa Jim and Zac. With all the running around, Luke didn't get his usual long morning nap in. I was telling Seth this when he got home. I told him that Luke had just had little cat naps throughout the day. Ella chimed in when I said this and said, "we don't have a cat," and looked at me like I was crazy. Now that I type it out, it sounds pretty lame, but at the time it was really funny/cute. Pretty sure at least the grandparents will appreciate it!

A good eater makes Mommy a bad sleeper
Luke is a healthy eater, and he is still waking every 2-3 hours to eat....through the night too. I keep waiting for this to end and for him to sleep longer stretches. Please! I think the longest stretch of sleep I've had since he was born is 4 hours. Let me tell you that 4 hours was bliss! Luke is getting close to 3 months old. I need to figure out a way of convincing him that kids his age sleep through the night!

For this installment of "%%#@ My Kid Says"
This morning as Ella was eating her breakfast she looked at me and said "Eww! I don't want spicy cheese like that. I want cheddar cheese!" Please note that this was after she'd eaten an entire serving of the spicy cheese eggs and only had one bite left on her plate. Ella used to love eating pepper jack, and now seems to think that it's yucky. ???? Don't worry she can take a little spice....so it's not the heat factor that's yucky. She seems to think many things are yucky these days - things she used to really like.

Breakfast lately....
Ella is a huge helper in the kitchen these days. I should say she loves to help.....sometimes it's double the work for whoever she may be helping. We make toast a lot for breakfast....or we call it toast. Ella has decided she doesn't want to toast her bread now because the toaster scares her when it pops the toast up!!

I'm afraid to mention it....don't want to jinx it
Our little family made a trip to Build a Bear Workshop at the Valley Mall on Saturday - our first expercience. We (mostly I) have been dreading finally yanking the paci away from Ella. Man, we'd talked about it for what seems like forever. That little thing served us well, that's for sure. Anyway, we made our way to the Bear Workshop to create a brand new teddy bear for Ella and hide paci away inside (thanks for the idea, Court!). We'd talked with Ella about it and she was on board. At the critical moment of stuffing the paci inside the bear there was a little freaking out, but she recovered. She loved making her new teddy!! The true test was the first time we put her to bed and there was no paci..... we got home from the mall and lunch and Seth took her into her room and she started asking for it. Uh oh. After a few minutes of tears and screams of "take it out" (of the bear), she calmed down and hugged on the new "Teddy Girl." She actually ended up taking a great nap. Since then we haven't really had any issues at all and Ella has been sleeping so well! Whew! I know it's only been a couple days, but so far so good!

Luke's 2 month check up
Took Luke in for his 2 month check up on Friday. Dr. Thompson said he is doing great, and according to his stats he is very average....which in this case we're very happy with! He weighed in at 11 pounds, 14 ounces, and measured 23 inches long. Both of which were right around the 50th percentile. He's a healthy little boy!
